Paris winter snow and the Arc de Triomphe

Paris has been hit by the cold front again, with a little frosting of snow today. It rather pales in comparison to Old Blighty, but we city dwellers relish the scenic snow-coated city (well I like it anyway). I have to credit Mme. Grenouille for these photos as she took them early this morning on her way to the office, whilst I took care of Bébé Têtard.

I got to sample the icy streets of Auteuil, though didn’t exert my rights at the zebra crossings, as the roads looked a little slippery, and cars here won’t stop for you regardless of the season.

Your photos are really very beautiful.

We are actually neighbours here in Auteuil. I am guessing (hoping!) you are not one of the buggy pushers that stick the child out into the road to see if there’s any traffic coming, I have been in France too long and actually tell people off for that one. Revenge for all the ‘advice’ I got when mine were babies!

Looks beautiful.. what do you think is the best time of the year to see Paris? Im visiting my aunt in NL in August.. is it better to see Paris in July or September?

Hi Gayle,
I’m not sure it would make an awful amount of difference. If it’s a particularly hot August, the metro is not very pleasant, and August is probably peak season, but it’s still very busy in July and September. All the Parisians leave Paris in August for holidays, so whilst the tourist areas are packed, the less touristic areas are relatively dead (I love where I live during this month!) Even the local shops and boulangeries tend to shut up for the month.

I like Paris in September – a little cooler and less busy, but it’s all a matter of personal taste.
